Thai Cabinet Approves “Baku Declaration” to Advance Inclusive, Lifelong Development Across Asia-Pacific

Thailand’s Cabinet has approved the draft “Baku Declaration on Advancing Human Development to Drive Societies for All Ages in Asia and the Pacific,” as proposed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Cabinet also designated Thailand’s delegation—led by Deputy Prime Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow and the Foreign Minister or their representative—to formally adopt the declaration at the 82nd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.

The Baku Declaration focuses on inclusive human development across all age groups under the principle of “leaving no one behind.” It emphasizes creating quality employment opportunities, strengthening workforce skills—particularly in digital and innovation sectors—and promoting the roles of women and youth. It also highlights improving the quality of life for older persons and expanding equal access to employment and livelihoods for vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities.

In addition, the declaration underscores the importance of accessible, people-centered integrated healthcare systems and stronger regional cooperation in sharing knowledge and best practices. Thailand’s participation reflects its proactive role in advancing international collaboration to enhance quality of life across all dimensions and build a more inclusive, sustainable society for people of all ages.
