The government is stepping up flood response operations in multiple provinces, with cabinet members visiting impacted areas to coordinate relief efforts and execute long-term water management strategies.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Capt. Thamanat Prompow visited Pattani and Yala Provinces to assess the situation and meet affected residents. He announced the establishment of a task force to develop a comprehensive water management plan for Yala, including a “water map” to identify tributaries, storage areas, and silted waterways requiring urgent dredging.
An emergency budget request of approximately 100 million baht will be submitted to prepare for anticipated heavy rainfall in the South. The Royal Irrigation Department and military units will jointly support dredging and water flow management to ensure solutions can be implemented quickly and effectively. The Minister also directed the Royal Irrigation Department to expedite studies and community consultations in Pattani, which serves as a main catchment basin for the three southern border provinces.
In Nakhon Sawan province, Minister of Culture Sabeeda Thaised led a delegation to distribute 222 relief kits to flood-affected households in the Bang Prong community. She instructed provincial authorities to ensure households receive the full 9,000-baht financial assistance allocated by the government, emphasizing that “no one will be left behind.” The delegation later traveled to Tha Tako District to deliver more than 400 additional relief kits and visited flooded neighborhoods by boat to offer direct support to elderly residents and impacted families.
Meanwhile, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Paradorn Prissananantakul is monitoring the flood mitigation in Ang Thong province. He chaired a coordination meeting with provincial and local agencies to reinforce vulnerable flood barriers. More than 500 sandbags are being deployed to seal a damaged 40-meter embankment near Pa Mok Bridge, supported by boats to install reinforcements along the waterway. Additional heavy machinery and large sandbag units are being placed around the bridge and market area to slow water flow. Military personnel and Ang Thong Highway District teams are assisting to prevent flooding from spreading into nearby communities.
