5 Strategies for the Development of Thailand’s Transportation System.

Thailand’s transport.

Thailand’s transport infrastructure development plan 2015-2022 aims to upgrade transport and logistics to enhance the country’s competitiveness.

The growth of the transportation sector’s infrastructure across all modes, including rail, road, water, and air travel; the methodical linking of networks to support lifestyle changes; the modification of people's travel habits and business patterns; and the increased need for travel as a result of globalization. The distribution of prosperity to more regions can meet the needs of service users, modernize, and support future growth as well as improve the quality of life of the people by laying out 5 important strategies as follows.

Strategy 1 Integration of Transportation Systems.

     - Create infrastructure for all modes of transportation and services in order to have a thorough and effective communication network with the goal of creating connection points between modes of transportation (for instance, Sathorn Pier, which connects the Chao Phraya Express Boat with the BTS SkyTrain and public transportation) and the construction of a passenger bus terminal to ease travel.

     - The management of the transportation system, especially the management of the existing infrastructure for maximum efficiency.

Strategy 2 Services of the Transport Sector.

     - Freight forwarding encourages both domestic and international shipments to be based on rail and water transport as they are low-cost, safe, and environmentally friendly.

     - Transportation of passengers to facilitate travel for all groups of people thoroughly, sufficiently, with quality, and with fares that are suitable for users (on time, reliable, clean, convenient, and safe).

Strategy 3 Development, Laws Improvement, Supervision, and Organizational Reform.

     - Organizational reorganization and the establishment of clear roles for transport-related agencies between regulatory policy makers and transport providers are necessary to ensure that each sector's operations are transparent, effective, and up to international standards.

     - Relevant rules and regulations must be revised in order to keep the law current with changing circumstances, economics, society, and trade and investment conditions.

-Opportunities for private sector involvement in infrastructure construction and transportation administration.

Strategy 4 Production and Development of Personnel.

To provide sufficient quality, adhere to international standards, and be accepted employees to support the expansion of the transportation sector both domestically and regionally.

Strategy 5 Applying Technology and Innovation for Developing Transportation System.

Promote research and development in order to apply innovative technologies and advanced intelligent technology systems to improve the efficiency of transportation infrastructure and management.
