Thailand Launches IBAS: A Digital Weapon Against Nominee Companies Creating a Transparent and Fair Investment Market!

Thailand is going all in! The government recently introduced the "IBAS" (Intelligence Business Analytics System), a powerful Big Data tool designed to identify nominee and foreign business law violations with high accuracy. It rapidly detects links between individuals and legal entities and integrates data from the Revenue Department, Customs, the Anti-Money Laundering Office, and other leading government agencies.

“Nominee companies are a silent threat to our economic structure,” underscoring that IBAS is the ultimate solution! This system will revolutionize proactive enforcement, ensuring fairness for honest Thai entrepreneurs and preventing exploitation of legal loopholes that create unfair competition. Between September 2024 and May 2025, the government resolved over 57,739 illegal goods and business cases, amounting to damages of 2.287 billion baht, and cracked down on 861 nominee companies, reclaiming 15.296 billion baht in damages.

What does this mean for Thai businesses?

✅ Reduced unfair competition from lawbreakers

✅ Increased confidence for foreign investors in a transparent market

✅ Protection for SMEs to compete on an equal footing

✅ Prevention of long-term economic damage from the source

IBAS will be fully operational by August, 2025. The government views this issue as a “structural war” that must be fought with data and strategic crackdowns on networks. The goal is not just law enforcement but building a strong, equitable, and sustainable Thai economy.
