Thailand is pushing full steam ahead!
Recently, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Industry signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to propel Thailand into becoming the regional center for rail systems and logistics with four key initiatives.
1️⃣ Boost domestic parts manufacturing to reduce imports and strengthen industrial foundations
2️⃣ Transfer technology and knowledge to elevate production and maintenance standards to global levels
3️⃣ Develop Thai workforce skills to meet future rail industry demands
4️⃣ Secure rail industry stability while expanding into international markets
This partnership aims to lower national transportation costs by implementing the “Shift Mode” policy, shifting freight from road to rail. It also focuses on developing domestically produced trains—including hybrid locomotives, passenger cars, and cargo containers—to meet international standards.
