Thai Ice Cream Tops Asia’s Export Charts Poised to Become Asia’s Ice Cream Industry Hub

Thailand is making waves in the global ice cream market! “Thai Ice Cream” ranks as Asia’s largest exporter and fourth worldwide, with average annual exports of $106 million, growing steadily at 11% over the past five years. Supported by 14 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) that reduce tariffs in 17 countries, Thailand is rising as Asia’s ice cream industry center.

The country’s strength lies in its diverse raw materials and strong production capabilities, winning over consumers globally, especially in FTA partner markets like ASEAN, South Korea, and Australia. In the first two months of 2025, exports to these markets hit $20 million, up 4%, with Japan’s market soaring by an astounding 827%.

Chotima Iemsawasdikul, Director-General of the Department of International Trade Negotiations, Ministry of Commerce, highlighted Thailand’s potential as a regional ice cream hub, thanks to high production standards and abundant raw materials. She encouraged producers to innovate with new flavors, such as herbal recipes, to meet growing health trends.

Although Japan still imposes import tariffs ranging from 21% to 29.8%, Thailand is breaking barriers with premium quality and continuous product development to secure lasting consumer loyalty.
