Strengthening MOU Ties: From the Heritage of People's Daily to the Digital Strategy of Global Times

On 9 September 2026, a Thai delegation led by Mr. Kireewat Onprom, Director of the Regional Public Relations Office 7, Government Public Relations Department (PRD), visited the People's Daily Museum in China. The visit provided insights into the history and digital transformation of one of China’s most influential media outlets. The delegation also visited the Global Times to learn about its international outreach through its Chinese and English editions.

Global Times President Guan Kejiang welcomed the delegation and shared how the outlet transitioned into an all-media model—spanning websites, applications, and social media alongside traditional print—to adapt to shifting reader habits. He emphasized, “Audiences don't need a massive volume of information; they want the truth.”

This visit is part of the Media Practitioner Exchange program, under the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between PRD and People's Daily to develop their media personnel. PRD will apply this experience exchange to develop its public relations work, providing useful information that reaches and directly meets the needs of target audiences more effectively.

This ongoing partnership strengthens media cooperation between Thailand and China, driving digital innovation and fostering deeper cross-border understanding.
