U.S. Sets 19% Tariff on Thai Goods After Successful Ttrade Talks

The United States has finalized a new reciprocal tariff rate of 19% on Thai goods, following successful negotiations with the Thai government. Government spokesperson Jirayu Huangsab confirmed the outcome, marking a significant step in securing more favorable trade terms.

The new rate, down from the previous 36%, will take effect on August 1, 2025. It brings Thailand’s tariff level closer to that of other regional economies such as Vietnam, the Philippines, and Japan, helping to maintain the country’s export competitiveness in the U.S. market.

Officials described the agreement as part of Thailand’s broader strategy to safeguard its export sector and economic stability, amid ongoing shifts in global trade policies.
