The exhibition “La Mode en Majesté – Royal Thai Dress: From Tradition to Modernity”

The exhibition “La Mode en Majesté – Royal Thai Dress: From Tradition to Modernity,” is being held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the French Republic.

Organized through the collaboration of the Sustainable Arts and Crafts Institute of Thailand (SACIT), the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles, the Royal Thai Embassy in Paris, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the exhibition is intended to celebrate two important milestones: the 340th anniversary of the first contact between Siam and France and the 170th anniversary of Thailand – the French Republic diplomatic relations (1856–2026).

It is divided into seven rooms showcasing over 200 pieces including royal dresses and accessories, designed by French couturier Pierre Balmain in collaboration with the renowned embroidery house Lesage, as well as works by Thai designers.

The exhibition highlights the evolution of royal court attire and its representation on the global stage through the display of royal garments belonging to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya.

It also features all eight styles of the “Chud Thai Phra Ratchaniyom (Royally Favored Thai Costumes),” presented alongside exquisite Thai craftsmanship. Together, these works reflect the refinement of Thai wisdom and cultural heritage that has been preserved over generations.

This is the first time for the Royal Dress of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother to be displayed abroad. The exhibition is open to the public until 1 November 2026.
