Thammasat University and Chulalongkorn University Showcase Thailand’s Potential in Climate and Health Innovation

The Faculty of Public Health, Thammasat University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Chulalongkorn University, has demonstrated Thailand’s strong capacity in health and climate innovation by winning top recognition at a national health innovation competition. The achievement highlights the role of Thai higher education institutions in addressing climate change through integrated approaches that combine public health, environmental management, and agricultural development.

The award-winning innovation is a cattle dietary supplement developed from Thai herbal resources combined with modern technology. The solution is designed to reduce methane emissions generated during the digestive process of ruminant animals while simultaneously improving animal health. By lowering the need for antibiotics in livestock farming, the innovation also helps reduce the risks of
chemical residues, antimicrobial resistance, and environmental contamination, all of which are critical public health challenges.

This success reflects the effective application of the One Health approach, linking human health, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability in a practical and scalable manner. It underscores the capacity of Thammasat University and Chulalongkorn University to generate innovations that support national strategies on climate change mitigation, sustainable agriculture, and health security,
reinforcing Thailand’s position as a country capable of delivering holistic solutions to global challenges.
