Thailand Speeds Up Preparations for World Horticultural Expos

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives held discussions with the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) to review progress on hosting two major World Horticultural Expos—Udon Thani in 2026 and Nakhon Ratchasima in 2029. AIPH delegates recently conducted an on-site readiness assessment in Nakhon Ratchasima.

The government emphasized its strong commitment to accelerating preparations for the 2026 expo in Udon Thani, viewing it as a key platform to showcase Thailand’s horticultural innovation and green industries on the global stage. It also serves as a stepping stone toward hosting the larger 2029 event. Thailand is preparing to submit required documents to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) for official recognition, aiming to boost national image, regional tourism, and economic momentum—especially in the Northeast.

AIPH representatives presented findings from their site evaluations, covering design, management plans, sustainability concepts, and the use of horticultural technology to welcome visitors worldwide. They expressed confidence in Thailand’s readiness in terms of capability, personnel, budget, and infrastructure.

They also reaffirmed the long-standing close cooperation with Thailand and pledged continued support to ensure the expos fully highlight the country’s strengths, while thanking the ministry for its strong coordination and dedication to delivering a world-class event.
