Thailand Seeks to Expand Skilled Labour Opportunities in South Korea

The Ministry of Labour is stepping up efforts to send more skilled workers to South Korea, particularly to support the country’s world-class shipbuilding industry. Talks with a major shipbuilding firm focused on increasing recruitment of Thai welders and opening doors for other skilled trades.

The move builds on existing cooperation between Thailand’s labour agencies and the company, which already works with Thai training centres to supply qualified workers. Authorities highlighted Thailand’s strong capacity to train high-quality skilled labour ready for international standards.

The discussions also reaffirmed appreciation for the company’s care of Thai workers in terms of welfare, pay, and workplace safety, helping to strengthen confidence in overseas employment opportunities.

Beyond recruitment, both sides expressed interest in deepening long-term cooperation that benefits Thai workers, skills development, and industry partners alike.

Overall, the initiative reflects Thailand’s push to expand overseas job markets for its skilled workforce, enhance international partnerships, and create better opportunities for workers to contribute to global industries while improving their livelihoods.
