Thailand Reaffirms Commitment to Universal Health Coverage and “One Health” at World Health Assembly in Geneva

The Thailand reaffirmed its commitment to universal health coverage, global health security, and resilient healthcare systems during the 79th World Health Assembly held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

Representing Thailand at the global gathering, the Minister of Public Health delivered a national statement under the theme “Transforming Global Health: Shared Responsibility” before international health leaders and delegates. Thailand emphasized that strong public health systems are not only essential for protecting people’s well-being, but also serve as a key foundation for global stability and trust.

Thailand reiterated its support for equitable and inclusive healthcare systems capable of responding effectively to future health crises and emerging diseases. The government also expressed readiness to work closely with the World Health Organization (WHO) and member states to advance practical, people-centered global health transformation.

In parallel discussions on Foreign Policy and Global Health (FPGH), Thailand continued to promote the “One Health” approach, which integrates human, animal, and environmental health systems to strengthen disease prevention, surveillance, and emergency response capabilities.

Thailand presented three major policy priorities: enabling countries to effectively implement global health frameworks at the national level, developing integrated cross-sectoral data and surveillance systems, and establishing sustainable financing mechanisms with greater investment in prevention and preparedness.

The government also highlighted ongoing cooperation with France and international partners under the Thailand–France Joint Plan of Action to advance the One Health agenda and build more resilient healthcare systems for the future.

Thai officials stated that these efforts will strengthen the country’s preparedness against future pandemics and health emergencies while reinforcing Thailand’s proactive role in promoting global health security and sustainable public well-being.
