The Royal Gazette has published an announcement from the Department of Livestock Development regarding the temporary suspension of the import and transit of poultry and poultry carcasses from the Kingdom of Cambodia, effective for 90 days starting August 6, 2025.
The key content of the announcement states that the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) has reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in parts of Cambodia. The disease is capable of spreading rapidly across regions.
The primary cause of the spread is the movement of infected animals, carriers, or carcasses of animals that died from the disease to different areas. To prevent the spread of this outbreak into Thailand, which could affect domestic poultry farming and public health, the government has exercised its legal authority to suspend imports and transit of 1) Poultry species such as birds, chickens, ducks, geese, and swans; 2) Semen for breeding purposes; 3) Hatching eggs; 4) Poultry carcasses.
These restrictions apply specifically to goods originating from Cambodia and will remain in effect for 90 days from the day following the publication in the Royal Gazette.
