Thailand, China Strengthen Transport Cooperation to Advance Rail and Infrastructure Projects

Thailand and China have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding transportation cooperation, with both sides pledging closer coordination to accelerate major infrastructure projects and strengthen regional connectivity. During a bilateral discussion held at the Ministry of Transport, representatives from both countries emphasized their shared determination to overcome obstacles and ensure national strategic projects move forward efficiently.

Thailand highlighted its commitment to advancing key initiatives, particularly the first phase of the Thailand–China High-Speed Rail project connecting Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima, while also pushing forward future development toward Nong Khai and supporting the construction of the second Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge linking Nong Khai and Vientiane. The cooperation reflects broader efforts to enhance cross-border transportation networks and facilitate regional economic growth.

China reaffirmed its readiness to support Thailand through existing bilateral
cooperation mechanisms, emphasizing confidence in Thailand’s potential to
become a transportation hub in Southeast Asia. Beyond railway development, both countries discussed strategic infrastructure initiatives including Laem Chabang Port Phase 3 and the Land Bridge project, which aims to create a new logistics corridor connecting southern China and the Mekong region to global markets. Both parties agreed to maintain close coordination to ensure long-term progress and successful project implementation.
