Thailand-China Collaboration Advances Integrative Medicine Joint Research and Development of Thai and Chinese Herbal Medicines Through Sister Hospital Partnerships

Thailand and China have launched a new era of cooperation in public health, systematically integrating traditional Thai and Chinese medical knowledge. This partnership focuses especially on the use of herbal medicine for treatment and health restoration while promoting a “sister hospital” model to foster research, development, and exchange of medical personnel and technology.

China’s Hunan Province, renowned for its rich heritage in Chinese herbal medicine, serves as a key source of high-quality natural medicinal materials. This collaboration extends beyond treatment to include training, study visits, and capacity building for healthcare professionals, with plans to expand cooperation across hospitals, universities, and research institutes.

This initiative aligns with the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China in 2025, reflecting both countries’ commitment to deepen ties beyond economic and cultural exchanges toward building a robust healthcare system.

The Thai-Chinese traditional medicine partnership opens the door to innovative health solutions, leveraging the strengths of both nations in traditional wisdom and natural resources. Together, they aim to establish a holistic, accessible, and sustainable healthcare system that meets future population needs.
