Thailand and Australia Advance Trade and Investment Cooperation

Thailand and Australia have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening trade and investment ties, leveraging the full benefits of existing free trade agreements such as the Thailand-Australia Free Trade Agreement (TAFTA) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

During the bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and related summits, both sides acknowledged the long-standing and constructive partnership between the two nations. The Thai side extended an official invitation for the Australian counterpart to visit Thailand at a mutually convenient time.

Australia expressed condolences over the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and congratulated Thailand on its recent leadership developments and on the signing of the joint statement between Thailand and Cambodia, viewing it as a step toward enhancing peace and stability in the region.

Both countries agreed to further strengthen the Thailand–Australia Strategic Partnership by expediting the finalization of the new Joint Plan of Action for 2026–2029. The plan aims to expand cooperation in key sectors such as bio-science, food security, renewable and clean energy, as well as education exchanges and tourism.

This collaboration reflects a shared vision to build a more resilient, sustainable, and future-oriented partnership that supports regional growth and prosperity.
