Thai Teen Nene Royal Heads to AGT Grand Finale

Thai teenage rock performer Nene Royal has advanced to the Grand Final of America’s Got Talent after receiving a Golden Buzzer during the Live Show round. The 16-year-old singer and guitarist, whose real name is Rattikarn Amloy, earned the direct passage with her performance of Soundgarden’s Black Hole Sun.

Judge Mel B pressed the Golden Buzzer following the performance, sending Nene directly to the final without requiring her to advance through the public vote. Fellow judge Howie Mandel also praised her performance and indicated that he considered her worthy of the show’s $1 million grand prize.

Nene first attracted attention at the U.S. talent competition with her audition performance of The Cranberries’ “Zombie.” She later performed Muse’s “Hysteria” during the Judges’ Callbacks, combining vocals with a guitar solo featuring percussive techniques and showcasing her abilities as both a musician and a stage performer.

Her run on America’s Got Talent has drawn international attention to the young Thai rocker as she moves into the final stage of the NBC competition. The Grand Final is scheduled for September 23, Thai time.
