Thai PM Visits Border Victims in Surin Province

Thailand's Prime Minister and Minister of Culture Paetongtarn Shinawatra traveled to Surin Province on 27 July to meet with injured civilians and military personnel at Surin Hospital and visit displaced families at a temporary evacuation center at Rajamangala University of Technology Isan.

The border conflict has forced thousands to flee their homes without preparation, creating widespread uncertainty for affected families. Many residents now shelter at the university campus while awaiting resolution of the situation.

During her visit, the Prime Minister pledged government action to quickly resolve the crisis and restore safety for all affected lives. She praised the dedication of medical staff, military personnel, police, volunteers, and aid organizations working on the front lines.

"In situations full of uncertainty, the encouragement we give each other today is the most important force," she wrote on X, expressing solidarity with affected communities alongside the Thai nation.

The ongoing border tensions have resulted in casualties and displaced approximately 130,000 people from the area.
