Thai PM Orders Urgent Assistance and Unified Information to Prepare for Rain on 4–5 October

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul chaired a meeting of the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command (NDPMC) on 1 October to review the flood situation and the progress of assistance for those affected by flooding.

The Premier emphasized close coordination among relevant agencies, with a focus on protecting lives and property. Key areas include early warnings, assistance for vulnerable groups, shelter management, healthcare, and comprehensive flood recovery.

He also instructed relevant agencies to promptly notify residents living near major rivers to ensure timely flood preparedness and response. Provincial and district authorities have been directed to remain on standby and be fully prepared to assist the public ahead of the expected rainfall on 4–5 October 2026, based on five key directions:

1. Prioritize Public Assistance: Help first in severely affected areas.

2. Establish Public Outreach Teams: Coordinate the delivery of food and essential supplies.

3. Establish “One Area, One Information” Communication: Provide clear and consistent information on water levels and the flood situation.

4. Assess Local Capabilities: Evaluate current and anticipated water-management needs and capabilities.

5. Prepare Assistance Resources: Ensure the availability of personnel and equipment, including arrangements for cross-provincial assistance.
