Royal Thai Air Force Supports Joint Operations to Defend Thai Sovereignty and Create Conditions for Lasting Peace
The Royal Thai Air Force has actively supported joint operations with the Royal Thai Army during 24–28 July 2025, in response to the escalating tensions along the Thai-Cambodian border. The objective was to protect national sovereignty, minimize risks to civilians, and establish strategic conditions that facilitate peaceful diplomatic negotiations.
Air Marshal Prapas Sornchaidee, Spokesperson for the Royal Thai Air Force, stated that the RTAF deployed F-16 and Gripen fighter aircraft to conduct precision air strikes on hostile military targets that posed a threat to Thailand’s national security. The operations focused on neutralizing weapons depots and enemy command centers. Missions were conducted both during the day and at night, and outcomes were assessed using integrated intelligence and modern surveillance technologies.
Thailand’s use of air power was carried out in full compliance with international law, based on the nation’s inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. The Royal Thai Air Force strictly adhered to the principles of proportionality, necessity, and clear distinction between military and civilian targets.
The success of this mission was made possible by the Air Force’s ongoing readiness and structured preparation, including training exercises, the integration of joint command and control systems, and real-time data coordination with the RTAF’s Air Operations Center. These efforts ensured precision in decision-making and helped minimize collateral damage.
The Royal Thai Air Force remains fully committed to safeguarding national security and expresses its gratitude to the Thai people for their trust and support during this critical period.
