🔹Prime Minister Opens “The Royal Legacy” Exhibition at 2006 IMF–WBG Meetings, Highlighting Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Balanced and Sustainable Development

On 12 October 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening of “The Royal Legacy: Empowering People, Building Resilience” exhibition, held alongside the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.

Government Spokesperson Ekkapob Pianpises stated that participating in this event were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Council Danucha Pichayanan, World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, and other distinguished guests.

Speaking on the topic “Thailand’s New Horizons: Empowering People, Building Resilience,” the Prime Minister emphasized Thailand’s commitment to placing people at the center of development and strengthening society’s capacity to navigate an increasingly uncertain world. For Thailand, these ideas are closely linked to the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, advocated and developed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great. Over more than seven decades, His Majesty’s development work embodied moderation, reasonableness, and resilience to change – grounded in knowledge and integrity – principles that remain highly relevant to development today.

The Prime Minister said that His Majesty’s development work demonstrates that progress should be measured beyond economic growth. It should also encompass strong communities, environmental stewardship, and people’s ability to address future challenges. The Sufficiency Economy Philosophy continues to offer valuable guidance for balanced, inclusive, and sustainable development.

The exhibition also marks Thailand’s preparations for the centenary of the birth of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great in 2027. It honors His Majesty’s development work and invites visitors to consider how royal development principles can be applied to today’s challenges. The Royal Pavilion presents royal initiatives and development projects that translate these principles into practical approaches – strengthening communities, improving quality of life, and building resilience.

In closing, the Prime Minister expressed his confidence that the exhibition would inspire all sectors to work together toward development that leaves no one behind and creates a sustainable and resilient future for everyone.

The Royal Legacy exhibition introduces international participants to Thailand’s royal development principles and approaches, highlighting how stronger, more resilient people and communities can navigate change and advance sustainable development.

The 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings, taking place from 12 to 18 October 2026, bring together more than 15,000 participants from 191 countries, including economic and financial policymakers, leaders of international financial institutions, business representatives, academics, and participants from sectors worldwide.
