NIA and New Zealand Innovation Delegation Advance Cooperation from Education to Trade, Investment, and Joint Innovation

Thailand’s National Innovation Agency (NIA) hosted a meeting with the New Zealand PMSA Innovation Delegation to strengthen bilateral cooperation and elevate collaboration from education to trade, investment, and joint innovation development. The delegation participated under the New Zealand Prime Minister’s Scholarships for Asia (PMSA) program, with Education New Zealand serving as the main coordinating body.

The discussion focused on identifying concrete opportunities for cooperation between Thailand and New Zealand in key sectors such as aerospace, artificial intelligence (AI), smart cities, digital technology, and innovation. Both sides exchanged insights on Thailand’s innovation policies, strategic directions, and priorities, as well as the types of international partnerships needed to support national development goals. The potential strengths and expertise of New Zealand’s innovation ecosystem were also explored as a means to complement Thailand’s innovation ambitions.

Promising areas for future collaboration include aerospace and drone technology, immersive AI for education, and city-level cooperation, with proposals for partnerships in energy development. Additional opportunities were identified in agriculture and food innovation—particularly dairy products, fruits, green farming—as well as natural skincare products.

The meeting builds on ongoing cooperation between NIA and the New Zealand Embassy in Thailand, especially in STEM education. It marks an important step toward expanding collaboration into new dimensions, including commercial partnerships, investment, and long-term integration of the innovation ecosystems of both countries.
