Flood Relief Efforts and Prevention Plan Updated

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Yodchanan Wongsawat has detailed recovery efforts in flood-hit Nan province as authorities work to restore affected communities and assist residents.

Yodchanan, accompanied by the Nan governor, inspected recovery operations and efforts to accelerate compensation and financial assistance. Agencies are working to restore public services, local economic activity, and daily life as floodwaters recede.

For long-term prevention, the government is considering water-retention areas, detention basins, and Kaem Ling, or monkey cheek, water-management systems. Lessons from the Nan floods will also be incorporated into coordinated disaster planning across government agencies.

Authorities also plan to improve early warning systems by integrating data from multiple agencies with Geographic Information System mapping. The system is expected to provide communities with more accurate water-level information and earlier warnings of flood risks.
