The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has announced procedures and conditions for operating agricultural drones in areas that may affect national security during the Thai–Cambodian border situation. The regulations, effective August 11, 2025, will remain in force until further notice under CAAT Announcement No. 3, B.E. 2568 (2025).
Operators must register themselves and their drones through the UAS Portal and purchase third-party liability insurance based on the drone’s weight. Required documents include the drone user manual, photographs showing the UAS Portal registration number, a risk assessment form, and, if applicable, written authorization from the person responsible for the restricted area. Flight permission requests must be submitted through the UAS Portal.
Once authorized by CAAT, operators must notify the authorities at least 12 hours before flying. Drone operations must be conducted only within the locations, dates, and times specified in the authorization.
