Long before dawn, they came. From the north, the south, the east, and the west — ordinary Thais making extraordinary journeys to gather outside King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital one last time to pay their final respects to HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha who passed away on 11 June.
Some clutched portraits of the Princess. Some pressed their hands together in silent prayer. Some simply stood, eyes glistening, unwilling to leave. No one asked them to come. They came because HRH had spent her life showing up for them. And this was their way of showing up for her.
