Chiang Mai Airport and Chiang Rai Bus Guide 

      Northern Thailand is considered another destination for leisure travel for both Thais and foreigners, especially Chiang Mai Airport and Chiang Rai Airport. Upon exiting the passenger terminal, there are several recommendations for bus service, as follows:

Chiang Mai Airport

1. Chiang Mai City Bus

      Get easy access to the city of Chiang Mai and its major attractions, or return safely to the airport by city bus with a clear timetable. The service runs from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., with the details as follows:

Yellow Line:

      Bus route: Chiang Mai Airport - Wua Lai Road - Night Bazaar - Tha Phae Gate (connects to the red line) - Chang Puak Gate - Kad Suan Kaew (connects to the Red Line) - MAYA - Chiang Mai Airport

Red Line

      Bus routes: Chiang Mai Airport - Suan Dok - MAYA - Kad Suan Kaew (connects to the Yellow Line) / Three Kings - Tha Phae Gate (connects to the Yellow Line) - Night Bazaar - Central Airport - Chiang Mai Airport
2. Red Minibus 

      This signature minibus, which has been with Chiang Mai for a long time, runs around Chiang Mai city or as requested by passengers. It also runs back and forth to Chiang Mai Airport. Passengers can have a new experience and it is suitable for those with a flexible schedule. 

3. Airport Shuttle Bus

      A van that provides transfer services between Chiang Mai Airport and resorts and hotels on main roads in and around Chiang Mai. It is available at International Passenger Terminal Gate 12 with details as follows:

  • A1 Line: Flat fare rate is 40 baht.

         Bus route: Chiang Mai Airport – Nimmanhaemin Road – Huay Kaew Road – Khu Mueang.

  • A2 Line: Flat fare rate is 40 baht.

         Bus route: Chiang Mai Airport – Mahidol Road – Night Bazaar – hotels on Chang Klan Road.

  • A3 Line: Flat fare rate is 40 baht.

         Bus route : Chiang Mai Airport - Second Ring Road - 700th Anniversary of Chiang Mai Stadium.

5. Taxi limousine service is available at Exit Gate No. 1, and the fare rate starts at 150 baht.

6. Taxi meter service at Exit Gate No. 2; fares are set by the meter with an additional fee of 50 baht (according to the Ministry of Transport’s Notification stating that passengers must pay a taxi fee).

Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport

1. Taxi meter service is available at the counter outside Gate 3 on the 1st floor, where passengers must receive a numbered ticket first.

2. Chiang Rai Airport Limousine is a service car with a driver. The service fee is at a flat rate based on the distance. The counter is located inside the passenger terminal at Gate 2 on the 1st floor. 

3. Car rental service is located in the passenger terminal at Gate 2 on the 1st floor. There are many companies for travelers to choose from.
