Chulalongkorn University has introduced OSener, an innovative set of art activities designed to enhance aesthetic experiences for adults aged 50+ and the elderly. Created by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khanobporn Saengwanich from the Faculty of Education, OSener helps train observation, awareness, and cognitive functions, while encouraging social interaction and reducing loneliness, depression, and the risk of dementia.
OSener received strong interest at The 11th International Exhibition of Inventions (IEI 2025) in Guangzhou, China, where visitors of all ages enjoyed activities such as Draw a Line with My Identity, Smell & Tell Memory Game, and My Happiness Map. The project won a Gold Medal and a Special Award from the Indonesian Invention and Innovation Promotion Association (INNOPA).
According to Dr. Khanobporn, art is a powerful tool for communication beyond language and age, helping people share memories, express emotions, and enjoy positive interactions. The OSener activities can be done individually or in groups, with or without art skills, and aim to promote emotional well-being and support healthy aging. Future plans include producing complete OSener kits with manuals and online guidance, as well as workshops for interested organizations.
