Maha Loi Krathong World Event and Vijit Chao Phraya 2025

Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has invited members of the public to join the upcoming spectacular “Maha Loi Krathong World Event” and “Vijit Chao Phraya 2025.”

Minister of Tourism and Sports Artthakorn Sirilatthayakorn led the executives of the Tourism Authority of Thailand to pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister on 21 October at Government House to promote the 2025 Maha Loi Krathong World Event, to be held from October to November in Sukhothai and Ayutthaya provinces, and the “Vijit Chao Phraya 2025,” from November to December.

The Maha Loi Krathong @Sukhothai is scheduled for 27 October to 5 November in the area of Wat Chana Songkhram and Traphang Ta Kuan pond in the Sukhothai Historical Park. One of major activities is a light and sound presentation on the glory of Sukhothai civilization in combination with a retro atmosphere.

Sukhothai was the capital of the first Kingdom of Thailand in the 13th and 14th centuries. It has a number of fine monuments, illustrating the beginnings of Thai architecture. The great civilization which evolved in the Kingdom of Sukhothai absorbed numerous influences and ancient local traditions.

The Maha Loi Krathong @Ayutthaya will be held from 2 to 6 November at Wat Phra Ram. The beauty and charm of the Loi Krathong tradition will be presented through a light and sound show that blends local wisdom with creativity and innovations.

Ayutthaya served as Thailand’s capital from 1350 to 1767, a period of 417 years. In olden days, Ayutthaya emerged as one of the richest ports of Southeast Asia. It is now famous for monumental remnants of old palaces and temples spread across a tranquil landscape. Ayutthaya was declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on 13 December 1991.

As for the Vijit Chao Phraya 2025, it will be held for 45 days, from 1 November to 15 December, between 18.00 hr and 22.00 hr. The event will feature light-and-sound shows at 15 key landmarks along the banks of Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. Highlights of this event include a 500-drone show accompanying the spectacular light and sound performance at the Rama VIII Bridge every Friday; firework displays combined with massive, grand light, color, and sound effects and innovations at the Phra Phutta Yodfa Bridge (Memorial Bridge) every Saturday and Sunday throughout the event period.
