2nd Army Area’s Clarification on Military Operations Conducted against Military Targets

The 2nd Army Area would like to clarify regarding military operations conducted against military targets within the designated line of operation that posed a security threat.

All missions were carefully planned and executed in strict accordance with national security principles and international law, with the highest priority given to minimizing any impact on civilians not involved in the conflict.

On 8 December 2025, the 2nd Army Area conducted responsive military operations against Cambodian forces actions that constituted a direct threat to Thailand’s national security, as well as to the safety of civilians residing in border areas. Operational intelligence assessments indicated that Cambodian forces were mobilizing heavy weaponry, organizing combat units, and preparing fire support, activities which posed a potential threat to regional stability and the safety of border communities. Consequently, military action was undertaken to deter and neutralize Cambodian military capabilities, to the extent necessary for safeguarding national security and protecting the civilian population.

Key operations conducted included:

The destruction of abandoned buildings used by scammer networks in the Chong An-Ma areas, Nam Yuen District,

Ubon Ratchathani Province.

The destruction of anti-drone towers in the Preah Vihear and Huai Tamaria areas, Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province.

Clearance operations in cashew plantations encroaching upon the Line of Operation near Chong Rayee, east of Chong Chom.

The seizure and control of Prasat Khana, Kap Choeng District, Surin Province.

The destruction of a logistics cable transport system at Hill 350, Prasat Ta Kwai.

It is anticipated that during nighttime hours, Cambodian forces may employ multiple rocket launchers (BM-21) to fire into civilian areas, possibly targeting previously affected locations, with the intent of creating confusion within the battlefield environment.

The Second Army Area has conducted all operations with the utmost caution and in full compliance with the internationally recognized principle of the Right of Self-Defence under the United Nations Charter. The principles of Necessity and Proportionality have been strictly observed. Targets were limited exclusively to military infrastructure, including weapons depots, command and control centers, and combat support routes that posed threats to national security.

The 2nd Army Area fully recognizes the paramount importance of safeguarding the lives and property of civilians and remains committed to minimizing unnecessary risks arising from threats to national sovereignty and public safety. The ultimate objective of these operations is to maintain regional stability and prevent further escalation of the situation.
