“The 13th ASEAN Para Games”: A Testament to ASEAN Para Potential, as Korat is Ready to Host Again

Shortly after the curtain fell on the 33rd SEA Games hosted by Thailand,
It is time to pass the sporting torch... to an event equally filled with inspiration.

“The 13th ASEAN Para Games” is set to explode with excitement from 20–26 January 2026.

Marking Thailand’s return as host after 18 years, the city trusted to serve as the center of this extravaganza is "Nakhon Ratchasima Province."

Nakhon Ratchasima: A Host by Design, Not by Chance

Nakhon Ratchasima, widely known as the Gateway to the Northeast of Thailand, is no newcomer to hosting major sporting events. The province previously served as host of the 2007 Southeast Asian Games and the 2008 ASEAN Para Games.

When it comes specifically to para sports, Nakhon Ratchasima possesses truly world-class experience. The province has successfully hosted two major international para-sport events:

IWAS World Games 2020 (World Championships for athletes with physical impairments)

World Abilitysport Games 2025, held as recently as November

Competition venues, urban infrastructure, transportation systems, and accessibility services have all been tested and certified at the international level.

The Undisputed Capital of Para Sports in Thailand

It would not be an exaggeration to refer to Nakhon Ratchasima as the “Capital of Para Sports in Thailand.” because here is not merely a consistent host of international competitions.

But it also serves as the national training base for more than 200 Thai para athletes. From here, Thai para athletes have gone on to represent the nation with distinction at the Paralympic Games, World Championships, and continental multi-sport events.

Nakhon Ratchasima is therefore not merely a competition venue—it is truly the "Home" of Thailand’s para athletes.

A Showcase of ASEAN Para Athletic Excellence

The 13th ASEAN Para Games are not simply a contest for medals; they are a stage to measure the capabilities and progress of para athletes from across Southeast Asia.

Member nations are preparing to field their top athletes in popular and Paralympic-level sports, including:

Wheelchair Racing Wheelchair Fencing Boccia Sitting Volleyball Powerlifting Swimming

The intensity and quality of competition are expected to rival those of the Southeast Asian Games for able-bodied athletes in every respect.

Thailand on the World Stage—Yet Seeking to Reclaim ASEAN Supremacy

While Thai para athletes have consistently delivered outstanding
performances on the global stage, particularly at the Paralympic Games, recent results at the last three ASEAN Para Games tell a different story.

Indonesia has emerged as the overall gold medal leader in those editions, making the 13th ASEAN Para Games in Nakhon Ratchasima far more than a home event for Thailand.

It is a stage for reclaiming pride, restoring regional supremacy, and reaffirming the strength of the Thai para-sport movement.

A Platform of Opportunity, Equality, and Recognition

For para athletes, the ASEAN Para Games represent far more than competition. They are a platform for opportunity, equality, and recognition, demonstrating that physical limitations never define dreams or potential.

Every point scored, every second recorded, and every medal earned is the result of discipline, perseverance, and the same fighting spirit found in all elite athletes.

More Than a Sporting Event

As illustrated throughout, the ASEAN Para Games are not merely a sporting competition. They are powerful human stories—stories of individuals who refuse to surrender to fate, and whose journeys inspire audiences across the region.

20–26 January 2026 Join us in cheering on and supporting the ASEAN para athletes in Nakhon Ratchasima.

An event that promises excitement, intensity, and deeply moving moments—no less compelling than any sporting spectacle in Southeast Asia.
