Royal Visit to the Global Aviation Hub to Strengthen Thailand’s Future Competitiveness

1 July 2026 marks the final day of the State Visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand to the French Republic.

Their Majesties are scheduled to visit Toulouse, in southern France—widely recognized as the “European Capital of Aerospace and Aviation”—to tour the headquarters of Airbus, one of the world’s leading aerospace manufacturers.

Beyond observing cutting-edge aviation technology, the visit underscores Thailand’s long-term vision for national development in three key strategic areas:

✈️ 1. Elevating Thailand to a Global Aviation and Logistics Hub

Thailand has set a strategic goal of becoming a regional aviation hub and a leading center for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services in ASEAN. Visiting one of Europe’s largest commercial aircraft manufacturing facilities and advanced aerospace logistics centers offers valuable insights that can support the continued development of Thailand’s aviation infrastructure and help upgrade its aviation industry to international standards.

🌍 2. Developing Infrastructure to Support Tourism Growth

Aviation serves as the backbone of Thailand’s tourism industry. Expanding cooperation with such a global aviation leader as Airbus will contribute to enhancing Thailand’s capacity to accommodate growing air traffic, improve airport standards, and strengthen the country’s long-term tourism logistics network.
🌱 3. Accelerating the Transition to Clean Energy

Airbus is at the forefront of developing sustainable aviation technologies, including hydrogen-powered aircraft and innovations designed to reduce carbon emissions. This development align closely with the shared commitment of Thailand and France to advance cooperation in clean energy under the Thailand–France Strategic Partnership Action Plan (2026–2028).

The royal visit to Toulouse, therefore, represents more than an opportunity to explore technological innovation. It reflects Thailand’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships while advancing its industrial capabilities, technological development, and economic transformation. By fostering innovation and strategic cooperation, the visit is expected to contribute to new economic opportunities, job creation, higher income generation, and sustainable improvements in the Thai people’s quality of life.
