Thailand Enhances Travel with New Phuket Bypass Road Opening Anticipated in 2028

Thailand is moving forward with plans to build a new bypass highway—stretching from Ban Mueang Mai to the Sam Yaek junction leading to Phuket International Airport—to accommodate rising numbers of local residents and international visitors. This new route is designed to ease congestion, reduce travel times to and from the airport, and enhance road safety.

The upcoming road will feature four lanes and include an elevated bridge, offering a swift connection from Phuket’s main arteries directly to the airport. The project aims to support the growing urban communities and the province’s robust tourism economy.

Authorities expect the new bypass to be operational by 2028, further establishing Phuket’s reputation as a world-class travel destination. The modern, efficient, and safer transport link will help welcome both domestic and international tourists with greater convenience.
