Thai Enterprise Develops Animal Feed from Fermented Durian Peels Revolutionizing Agriculture, Cutting Costs and Environmentally Friendly

A community enterprise in Nakhon Sawan province has turned agricultural waste—particularly durian peels—into cattle feed through a microbial fermentation process using low-energy plasma technology. This method significantly improves the nutritional quality and growth performance of the livestock.

The feed produced from fermented durian peels costs 15% less than traditional raw materials while still providing complete nutrition, especially higher levels of protein, fat, and fiber compared to typical roughage. This results in better cattle nutrition and reduces reliance on environmentally impactful feed ingredients.

Beyond lowering cattle-raising expenses, this approach helps decrease agricultural waste that is often burned, contributing to PM 2.5 air pollution. It creates a sustainable balance between economic development and environmental protection, while also giving local farmers a chance to increase their income by maximizing the use of available resources.

Collaboration with research agencies and academic institutions has enhanced the efficiency of this technology, readying it for expansion to other regions. This development is set to elevate Thailand’s agricultural industry into a new era focused on environmental care and genuine value creation.
