TiesThe permanent installation of Two Stallions” sculpture at Benjakitti Park serves as a powerful symbol of the sister-city relationship between Bangkok and Ulaanbaatar, gifted by the Government of Mongolia and Ulaanbaatar City to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
The masterpiece was crafted by acclaimed artist Ochirbold Ayurzana, who drew inspiration from the legendary twin horses of Genghis Khan. The sculpture depicts two stallions facing each other in balanced elegance, representing Thailand and Mongolia as two nations with distinct identities coexisting in harmony and mutual respect. Beyond its diplomatic significance, the artwork incorporates sacred Mongolian themes of courage, resilience, and the untamed “spirit of the steppe”.
Looking ahead, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) remains committed to deepening its partnership with Ulaanbaatar through active exchanges in education, tourism, and culture. As the “Two Stallions” takes its place in Bangkok’s most iconic urban landmarks, it stands as a source of pride for both capitals, bridging the distance between the bustling urban energy of Bangkok and the historic traditions of Mongolia.
