Thailand Pushes “Quick Big Wins” in Trade, Tourism, Agriculture and SMEs

Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Suphajee Suthumpun, has established four task forces to drive economic growth: Creative Economy and Visitor Economy Development; Agricultural Products, Food Security, and High-Value Agriculture; Community Economy and SMEs; and International Trade.

The four task forces will focus on delivering “Quick Big Win” with tangible results within six months to one year. Key priorities include reviewing and unlocking regulatory barriers, facilitating business operations, and enhancing competitiveness. At the same time, the task forces will develop a long-term “Big Win” aimed at reforming structure and strengthening the country’s economic potentials over the next two to four years.

In addition, the Ministry of Culture will leverage Thailand’s rich cultural capital to further develop the country’s creative economy, creating value, employment, and income for local communities. Experiential tourism will also be promoted through Thai traditions, arts and culture, and distinctive Thai identities.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports has proposed collecting a tourism fee from foreign visitors entering Thailand. Revenue from the fee would be allocated to the Thailand Tourism Promotion Fund and used for three main purposes: developing tourism destinations, enhancing tourist care and safety, and restoring environments affected by tourism.
