A sacred tradition held annually during the Buddhist Lent Festival, it honors the Buddha’s footprint and pays tribute to the mythical Naga serpent.

From September 27 to October 8, 2025, along the banks of the Mekong River in Nakhon Phanom, you’ll witness stunning lantern sculptures and nightly illuminated boat shows.
The festival’s highlight is on Buddhist Lent Day (Tuesday, October 7, 2025) when giant illuminated boats from 12 districts compete in a dazzling showdown, transforming the Mekong into a vibrant stage of light and color.
Throughout the festival, enjoy lively activities including contemporary Mor Lam concerts, cultural performances, traditional merit-making ceremonies with ancient zodiac boats, and a chance to shop for Nakhon Phanom’s finest OTOP products.
