“Chut Thai Phra Rajaniyom” refers to the traditional Thai women's attire initiated by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother. She commissioned research and new designs for this dress to serve as official attire during King Bhumibol Adulyadej's historic 1960 international visits to the United States and Europe.
The royal Thai dresses include eight styles, each named after palace halls or royal residences: Ruean Ton, Chitralada, Amarin, Boromphiman, Chakri, Dusit, Chakrapat, and Siwalai. These dresses beautifully showcase the elegance of Thai fabrics within a royal context.
In 2023, “Chut Thai Phra Rajaniyom” was officially registered as a National Cultural Heritage of Wisdom, affirming its cultural significance and preserving Thai identity through this elegant, systematic, and modern traditional garment.
