The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has announced its Notice No. 6 for extending the regulations to permit drone operations under strict conditions from 16 to 30 September 2025. The newly announced regulations follow security measures linked to the Thai-Cambodian border situation and replace the previous order, which expired on 15 September.
Key Conditions for Drone Operation:
1) Drone flight prohibited areas:
- The five border provinces under martial law or military operations: Sa Kaeo, Buri Ram, Si Sa Ket, Surin, and Ubon Ratchathani;
- Sattahip District (Chon Buri), Mueang District (Rayong), Phayuha Khiri District (Nakhon Sawan), and Mueang District (Ratchaburi);
- Within nine kilometers of all airports and airstrips, including Lop Buri (Khok Kathiam) and Prachuap Khiri Khan airports;
- Any additional zones designated by security agencies.
2) Drone operation conditions in other areas:
- Flight time allowed only between 06.00 and 18.00 hr;
- Maximum altitude at 90 meters unless otherwise authorized;
- Night flight strictly prohibited between 00.01 and 04.00 hr;
- All operators required to register both their drone and pilot license with CAAT;
- Drone flight details (area, date, time, purpose) required to be submitted at least three (3) days in advance via the UAS Portal (uasportal.caat.or.th) and reported to the Anti-Drone Center, Metropolitan Police Bureau (antidrone.police@gmail.com).
