His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua has graciously offered floating buoys and search and rescue drones to support emergency operations to help people affected by severe floods in southern Thailand.
As many provinces are facing the flood situation, officials working to cope with the situation need efficient equipment to enable them to access flooded areas and even impassable routes to assist people stranded by flooding.
His Majesty the King has been closely monitoring the situation, and has provided buoys and drones for responsible officials, so that flood rescue operations could be carried out with greater efficiency.
The buoys and drones were sent to the affected areas and used to search for stranded flood victims and evacuate them. The drones, in particular, will also be used to airdrop food and necessary items, as well as checking water channels, which have changed rapidly.
The equipment will enable officials to assess the flood situation more effectively, as well, and this will reduce the time for them to access the affected people, while ensuring safety as they carry out their work in high-risk areas.
The support given by His Majesty the King will facilitate the operations of rescue teams and local officials who must work against time during the crisis. With the equipment, they will work with greater efficiency and in a more systematic manner.
Previously, His Majesty called for the mobilization of civilian, military, and police resources, as well as urging all relevant government agencies to provide immediate assistance for flood victims. In particular, boats must be deployed to help evacuate the affected people from hazards to safe areas. His Majesty also directed that food, drinking water, and essential supplies be delivered swiftly to flood-stricken areas.
