Phra That Cho Hae Festival: Muang Phrae Hae Tung Luang 2026

Venue: Wat Phra That Cho Hae, Royal Monastery, Cho Hae Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phrae
Organized by the Phrae Provincial Cultural Office, this annual tradition invites locals and tourists to pay homage to the sacred Phra That Cho Hae and witness the grand Tung Luang (Great Flag) procession, a symbol of Lanna devotion.
Highlight Activities
- Royal Exhibition A special exhibition titled Phra Barami Phra Mae Thai: Protecting the People of Phrae, honoring the royal grace of the Queen Mother.
- Himmapan Forest Transformation The temple grounds will be transformed into the Miracle Himmapan Forest, a mythical woodland setting for worshiping the relic.
- Year of the Tiger Light Tunnel Decorative light tunnel installations celebrating the Year of the Tiger (Phra That Cho Hae is the traditional pilgrimage site for those born in the Year of the Tiger).
- Cultural Performances Traditional arts and cultural showcases performed throughout the festival duration.
- Video Booth 360° A rotating video booth allowing visitors to capture 360-degree immersive memories with family and friends.
- Cultural & Community Market Sales of cultural products, community OTOP goods, and creative local cuisine from Phrae.
- Cultural Tourism Video Contest A competition for promotional video clips under the theme Phra That Cho Hae Festival: Muang Phrae Hae Tung Luang. Judging will take place on March 3, 2026.
