Thailand Goes Green for the 2026 IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings

Thailand is hosting the 2026 IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings (12-18 October, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok) as a "Green Meeting."

Here's how:
♤ 320+ electric vehicles to shuttle participants, expected to cut more than 95.8 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent

♤ Food waste from meetings and banquets turned into organic fertilizer

♤ Less single-use plastic at catered events

♤ Digital meeting systems replacing paper documents

The government says the event is not just about discussing the green economy on stage, but also putting sustainability into practice, from transport to food to technology. The measures could serve as a model for future large-scale events in Thailand.

Big meetings, smaller footprints. That’s the Thai way forward.
