PATA–TCEB Launch PDMF 2025 in Chiang Rai, Highlighting Culture, Wellness, and Sustainable Tourism

Chiang Rai hosted the PATA Destination Marketing Forum 2025, organised by the Pacific Asia Travel Association in partnership with TCEB, welcoming more than 300 tourism leaders from 19 countries. Held under the theme “Steeped in Tradition, Rooted in Wellness,” the event aims to showcase how culture and wellness can shape meaningful travel experiences.

Opening the forum, the Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office reaffirmed the government’s commitment to elevating Thai culture through high-value and sustainable tourism. Chiang Rai’s governor highlighted the province’s strengths as a centre of culture, ethnic diversity, wellness, and creative design, underscoring its readiness to welcome global delegates.

PATA’s president emphasised the forum’s focus on developing local tourism through wellness integration, creative destination branding, and community-led sustainable models, citing Chiang Rai as a strong example of blending cultural heritage with modern creativity.

TCEB noted that hosting PDMF 2025 aligns with Thailand’s strategy to expand high-quality MICE opportunities and position Chiang Rai as a rising international MICE hub. DASTA reinforced this vision by showcasing creative community-based tourism through curated technical tours featuring design-led sustainability, cave and coffee culture, and community heritage.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand added support by promoting Chiang Rai’s wellness and culinary appeal throughout the three-day programme.

The main conference highlights regenerative destination design, the role of creativity in future MICE development, cultural networks, and smart use of digital tools. With strong backing from national and local partners, the event positions Chiang Rai as a promising, sustainable, and creative global destination.
