JICC Warns of Further Rainfall Despite Improving Flood Conditions

The Joint Information and Communication Center (JICC) reported improving flood conditions in several areas, including Bangkok and Nakhon Sawan, while warning of further rainfall and potential flooding elsewhere in the country.

During the briefing at the Government House on October 5, 2026, Government Spokesperson Ekkapob Pianpises reported that thunderstorms are expected in several regions from October 5 to 7, with additional rainfall forecast from October 10 to 13, especially in the North and western areas. Southern Thailand will see rainfall during both periods.

The Thai Meteorological Department also warned of intense, localized downpours, known as rain bombs, in Pattaya that could cause flooding. Outdoor workers are advised to remain alert to lightning risks during thunderstorms.

Upstream flows remain stable, while water levels in Nakhon Sawan and at the Chao Phraya Dam continue to decline.

Reservoirs in Kanchanaburi and Phetchaburi are maintaining discharges to create capacity for further rainfall.
Chachoengsao and Pathum Thani remain under monitoring this week due to incoming water from Nakhon Nayok. Next week, focus will shift to Phetchaburi and southern provinces, with particular attention to flash floods and mountain runoff.

In Bangkok, Deputy Government spokesperson Lalida Persvivatana stated that floodwaters continue to recede, but Chalerm Krung Road remains heavily flooded and should be avoided.

Water levels at Rom Klao Housing Community have dropped by 30 to 70 centimeters, with a target of reducing levels by an additional 25 centimeters daily. Authorities have deployed additional pumps in Sai Mai and La-or Ngoen communities, where drainage is expected to be completed within two days.

The JICC also reported that Bangkok is accelerating drainage through major canals in Lat Krabang, Sai Mai, and Saphan Sung to prepare for further rainfall. Authorities have collected about 1,400 tons of floating waste from areas where floodwaters have receded.
