Foreign Media Highlight Thailand’s Success in Using AI to Combat Online Gambling and Illegal Websites

Thailand’s use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to combat online gambling and illegal websites has attracted attention from international media, which highlighted the country’s growing capability in applying advanced technology to strengthen cybersecurity and law enforcement.

Media outlets including The Star, the Malaysian National News Agency, and the Asia News Network reported on Thailand’s efforts to integrate AI into the suppression of online crime. Under the administration of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, authorities have utilized the “WebD” platform to streamline the process of identifying illegal websites, verifying evidence, and obtaining court orders to block unlawful online content.

Foreign media highlighted the efficiency of the system by citing a recent operation during the 2026 World Cup. Through AI-assisted monitoring, Thai authorities detected and blocked 13,888 illegal gambling links within just 18 days. The technology has significantly reduced processing time and accelerated legal procedures by up to 31 times compared with conventional methods.
