A State Visit of Thai King and Queen to France, 28 June - 3 July 2026

Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand will pay a state visit to France from 28 June to 3 July 2026 at the invitation of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, to commemorate the 170th anniversary of Thailand-France diplomatic relations. The visit marks the first state visit by a Thai monarch to France in 66 years, following the previous state visit by Their Majesties King Rama IX and Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother in 1960.

Highlights of the state visit include an official welcome ceremony hosted by President Emmanuel Macron and a visit to the exhibition "La Mode en Majesté: Royal Thai Dress From Tradition to Modernity" at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Held under the High Royal Patronage of Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, the exhibition showcases royal attire worn by Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and Queen Suthida, alongside eight traditional Thai costumes.

In 2026, Thailand and France not only commemorate 170 years of diplomatic relations but also the 340th anniversary of the first diplomatic contact between the Kingdom of Siam and France in 1686. Formal diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1856 with the signing of the Montigny Treaty, which opened trade between Thailand and France and further integrated Thailand into the international community.

Furthermore, during 2026–2028, Thailand and France are implementing the Joint Action Plan to strengthen the Thai-French Partnership, fostering cooperation in cybersecurity, economic cooperation, education, science, creative industries, and people-to-people exchanges.
