Today (20 July 2026) at 9:30 a.m. Beijing time, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Anutin Charnvirakul laid a wreath at the Monument to the People's Heroes in Tiananmen Square before holding talks with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek said that both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the long-standing friendship between Thailand and China as the two countries commemorate the 51st anniversary of diplomatic relations. They also agreed to expand cooperation into emerging fields, including artificial intelligence, space technology, electric vehicles, and sustainable development, while elevating parliamentary cooperation in a more concrete and practical manner.

The Prime Minister stated that Thailand and China are ready to enhance collaboration in four key areas, namely (1) political and security issues, (2) trade, investment, and future industries, (3) people-to-people ties through tourism, culture, and the media, and (4) regional cooperation, including support for ASEAN centrality, Mekong development, and efforts to promote regional peace and stability.

The Prime Minister also expressed his support for expanding legislative exchanges between both countries and extended an invitation to the Chairman of the National People's Congress to pay an official visit to Thailand.

For his part, Zhao Leji congratulated Prime Minister Anutin on his first official visit to China as head of government and reaffirmed China's readiness to deepen cooperation with Thailand in such areas as artificial intelligence, digital technology, space, healthcare, environmental protection, and clean energy. He also emphasized close coordination under the ASEAN–China framework, the Lancang–Mekong Cooperation (LMC) framework, and other international platforms.

Both sides also agreed to further strengthen parliamentary exchanges, share legislative experience, and promote laws that support sustainable development. These efforts aim to advance the Thailand–China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and deliver long-term benefits to the peoples of both countries.
