Thailand Leverages 2026 IMF–World Bank Meetings to Boost Trade, Culture & Tourism
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Supajee Suthumpun has asked the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Culture, and Ministry of Tourism and Sports to work together to turn the momentum from the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings into real, lasting economic value for Thailand.
The goal? Connect trade, culture, and tourism into one powerful growth engine — boosting the value of Thai products and services, expanding access to international markets, and generating income for entrepreneurs and local communities nationwide.
Here's how each ministry is stepping up:
■ Ministry of Commerce
Developing Thai products, building strong brands, and expanding market access. From beautifully crafted home décor using Thai fabrics to "pha khao ma" (traditional woven cloth) bags and authentic Thai cuisine, local intellectual property is being transformed into globally competitive goods.
■ Ministry of Culture
Elevating Thailand's creeative economy by promoting performing arts, Muay Thai, and the skills of Thai artists — turning cultural heritage into real business opportunities and greater international recognition.
■ Ministry of Tourism and Sports
Weaving Thai identity and experiences into tourism promotion, while tapping into the growing MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) industry to drive spending and support businesses across the country.
The Deputy emphasized that this collaboration won't stop once the meetings end. From product development and cultural value creation to expanding trade and tourism channels, the goal is to ensure these global opportunities translate into measurable, long-term income — reaching small businesses and communities while strengthening Thailand's competitiveness on the world stage.
