Thailand's Government Public Relations Department (PRD) has taken a major step forward in international media cooperation, signing three Memorandums of Understanding with some of China's most influential media organizations: People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, and China Media Group (CMG).
The signing ceremony took place on 20 July 2026, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, witnessed by Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
According to PRD Director-General Sudruetai Lertkasem, the partnerships go beyond building networks; they lay the groundwork for strengthening Thailand's media capacity in three key areas:
• Organizational and personnel development
• Expanding international news networks
• Driving media innovation for the future
Here's what each partnership brings:
• People's Daily — Expanding Thai news access to Chinese audiences through content exchange and journalist exchange programs.
• Xinhua News Agency — Focusing on knowledge exchange in news management, digital media transformation, and AI applications in government communications.
• China Media Group — Collaborating on joint news, programs, and documentaries, while exchanging expertise in modern media technology.
This milestone marks the 50th anniversary of Thailand-China diplomatic relations, extending cooperation from government-to-government ties to media networks. positioning Thailand's PRD as a modern, tech-forward public media organization ready to strengthen the country's voice on the global stage.
