Thailand's PRD and Xinhua Deepen Media & AI Cooperation

Just one day after signing a landmark MOU witnessed by the Prime Ministers of Thailand and China, officials are already turning the agreement into action.

Thailand's Government Public Relations Department (PRD) Director-General Sudruetai Lertkasem led a delegation to meet with Xinhua News Agency at the invitation of Director-General Fu Hua, following up on the MOU signed on 20 July 2026. The visit included a firsthand look at Xinhua's Big Data Center and an exploration of how the agency manages news data and drives innovation in digital media.

What's next?
• Xinhua experts will travel to Thailand in September 2026 to share the "Xinhua Model" for newsroom data systems.
• Joint workshops, briefings, and technical exchanges on AI in journalism.
• PRD studying AI applications across the full news cycle, from content production and data analysis to digital storytelling and translation for global audiences, grounded in strong data ethics and security standards

This partnership supports Thailand's broader push to modernize its media landscape, including plans for a National Information Center, blending AI and digital tools with stronger talent development, while strengthening media ties between Thailand and China.
